What I'm Seeing This Week - Industry Overview
A quick look at what industries are hot and cold for the week.
As a way to keep a pulse on the market, I’m going to go through all the industries and themes that I will be looking at for the week to come. Normally, I do this in my trading journal but thought it would be good to share my thoughts with all of you.
If I missed any noteworthy themes or industry, leave a comment 😀
Hot Themes:
Cyber Security
AI
Credit Services
Airlines
Aerospace & Defense
Datacenters
Mild Themes:
Robotics
Drones
Battery tech
Argentinian companies
Gold
Nuclear
Cold Themes:

Solar
Homebuilders
INDUSTRIES & THEMES
Credit Services
Hot industry right now but most names are not volatile enough for me to trade or are too highly priced.
Only 2 names pop out at me that are notable. However, I would need to wait for an entry because as of right now I do not see anything
OPFI 0.00%↑ → Possibly a pullback play using the 5SMA but will be dependent on volume flowing into the stock.
Airlines
One of the stronger industries holding even through the gap down last week.
JETS 0.00%↑ → Airline ETF
A couple of notable names with high ADR%’s
Aerospace & Defense
Probably due to US uncertainty and aggression toward outside countries, defense companies have held strong and still remain a trending industry to be in. I think I was late to the party in entering any names but I am still looking at
Gold
Gold has started to rise, probably due to US equity uncertainty. Going to keep this one on the radar as the US Trump admin throws more volatility in the markets.
Other Notable Industries: AI, Cybersecurity
Robotics
I had this industry on my radar but after last week, they might go on the back burner.
All large caps in this industry have dropped and are not trending. The few tickers that have moved in the past months have been small caps or lower. And right now they are moving sideways, not of interest currently.
SERV 0.00%↑ → Too choppy for me to do anything
RR 0.00%↑ → Also very choppy and no real price formation
PDYN 0.00%↑ → The only ticker that looks okay on a price action (PA) basis
TER 0.00%↑ → Nothing here, but something to note, they had a nasty gap down on earnings but recouped some of their losses. Still not exciting to see when one of the larger cap robo stocks collapses in price.
Drones
This was on my list of themes, but the industry looks choppy. There are a few names I am watching, but just like the robo theme, there has been more chop than I like here.
KTOS 0.00%↑ → Not sure how I would trade this but out of all the names, this is top pick.
UMAC 0.00%↑ → Also a name I am watching. Has clean PA.
Battery Tech
Battery tech has been slumping. Some of the names I was watching have lost their momentum and it seems like this theme like robo and drones are on the back burner. A few names are left on the watchlist, but this theme doesn’t get me excited (I may have missed a few tickers but either way, it's not the best).
EOSE 0.00%↑ → One of the cleanest charts and one of the only really decent tickers in this theme still left.
BE 0.00%↑ → Had a nice break out of a trendline but failed miserably and filled back into pre-break trend.
Nuclear
After the Deepseek news last week, nuclear and alt energy names took a DIVE! I will keep an eye out for favorable entries but worry that the gap down halted this theme.
Other themes to keep an eye out for:
Some data center names are still holding like VNET 0.00%↑, TSSI 0.00%↑, and BBAI 0.00%↑. Quantum is in a choppy phase and is still making up its mind if it wants to continue trending up or not. Same with the semiconductor industry.
Electric vehicles and the automotive industry have been slumping ever since the Trump admin came in. Same with solar (TAN 0.00%↑). Homebuilders also taking massive hits (NAIL 0.00%↑).
If you guys like this type of post, please let me know and I can continue forward with this.
Thanks for the post. I’m curious about your process for identifying themes. Are you using a gainer scan and looking for commonalities? Lately I’m trying to implement more AI and using gainer scans then feeding AI all the tickers and having it sort them into themes. It’s not perfect, but gives a good starting point.
Anyway, you mentioned AI as a theme, but you may also want to consider AI Healthcare more specifically: GRAL, SDGR, TEM, INMB, PGEN, MESO, STIM, GH, CLPT, CHRO.
Cheers and keep up the great content!
